Regular practice is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to achieve success as an instrumentalist.  The skills that you are learning now on recorders will help you next year, no matter what instrument you decide to play.

What is regular practice?
Regular practice means do a little bit each day.  It doesn't need to be a lot.  Ten minutes a day is plenty if the time is spent efficiently.

It is better to spread out your practice time.  In other words, 10 minutes a day for six days is better than 60 minutes all in one day.  The brain continues to learn during the time between practices.
