Dear Parents,
Hello! I warmly welcome you to our 2nd Grade class for the 2023-2024 year at Holden School. I am so excited to be a part of your lives for the next 9 months. Let me tell you about myself.
My name is Alexa Arnett Kelly. I am 30 years old. I will celebrate my ninth wedding anniversary with my sweet husband, Aaron, this upcoming December. Aaron works in physical therapy and loves sports and working with athletes! He is also a musician and songwriter. We have one precious baby boy, Judah, who turned 4 on August 5th! He is the love of our lives. My mother, Mrs. Kim Arnett, has been a Jr. High Reading and English teacher at Holden for 30 years. My father is a retired Baton Rouge City Police Captain. I have one sibling, Matt, who is a nurse at OLOL Children’s Emergency Room in Baton Rouge. He is married to Mrs. Bethany Arnett who is an elementary teacher here at Holden School as well. Family and the Holden community are very important to me. I have a passion for education and an unconditional love for children. I have grown up around teachers my entire life (on and off campus), and I have attended Holden School all my life as well. I graduated high school in 2011 and from Southeastern Louisiana University in May of 2016. I am entering into my eighth year as a teacher, and I feel truly blessed to share my days with your precious children.
These are the most important things that I want you to know:
- I remember what it is like to be a student.
- I will love, cherish, and protect your children like my own. Every day they will know that Mrs. Alexa loves and celebrates their little minds, personalities, and qualities. Your children are special, and I promise to treat them fairly and kindly. Let your minds be at peace. My goal will be to make their minds feel that security every single day.
- You will see much growth and many achievements throughout the year. They are capable learners and are going to make you so proud!
- I encourage your involvement and understand the importance of keeping you up-to-date on everything going on in our classroom. We will all get to know one another!
- It is going to be a wonderful year!
While this letter is more of a personal introduction about me, rest assured that you will receive weekly newsletters with all the pertinent information that you would need to know and expect, such as test information, homework, important dates and events, progress, behavioral and academic updates (as needed), etc. You will be kept informed. If you have any questions or information that you would like me to know, you may contact me at [email protected] or 225-567-9367 (Holden School). You may also send notes with your child in his/her binder and agenda as needed. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or express any concerns.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Alexa
