My name is John “Jay” Leitz and this is my 11th year at Albany High School. I'm a National Certified Counselor and an National Certified School Counselor. I’m very excited about this upcoming year and getting to know as many of y’all as I can. Prior to my arrival at Albany i spent 7 years working in the New Orleans Public Charter School System. For 3 years I was the 11th/12th grade Counselor and Collegiate Coordinator at Lake Area High School. I spent 3 years as the Middle School Counselor at Gentilly Terrace Elementary School and 1 year at Pierre A. Capdau Elementary School as the RtI/504 Coordinator. I also worked as an RtI Educational Consultant with Insight Educational Center in Metairie.
I’m originally from New Orleans, but graduated from Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville. I attend varies colleges and universities throughout Louisiana, but officially graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross College. I have an A.S., in Juvenile Counseling, B.S., Human Services, Concentration in Psychology and Sociology, M.A., in Counseling, Concentration: School Counseling, and a MBA from Southeastern Louisiana University
Some of my interests are LSU Sports, New Orleans Saints, Rugby, football, kayaking, and I love to travel as much as possible with my family…
