Dear Parents and Guardians of Mrs. Debbie Olsyn’s 2021-2021 Social Studies & Science (STEAM) Classes,
Welcome to a new school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer and enjoyed spending quality time with your family and friends. I look forward to working with each and every one of you.
I know that each year of schooling presents new expectations and routines for you to become familiar with. I will be introducing classroom routines and structure in a way that removes all the guesswork and allows everyone to concentrate fully on learning.
First for the safety of everyone, and as mandated by Governor Murphy on August 6th, all teachers, students and visitors must wear masks while school is in session. You can view the 8/18/21 notification from our school administration on our obboe.org school website. Please replace or clean your mask daily for healthy hygiene.
Each week or bi-weekly, I will supply you with the current Studies Weekly SS/SCI subscription or Mystery Science materials needed for our weekly lessons. These will include a hard copy & on-line version of your Studies Weekly SS/SCI journal and review materials necessary to complete weekly assignments during our classes. Kindergarten will not have a hard copy of the journal, just the on-line access. Weekly materials will be kept in two assigned SS and SCI class folders in your personal grade level materials box at school. All Studies Weekly SS or SCI lessons can be viewed, printed, and, if needed, completed on-line at studiesweekly.com
There is a user-name and password for studiesweekly.com taped inside each student’s classroom subject folders. Student user-name and password for studiesweekly.com are also stapled to a copy of this letter, which will be sent home with parents at Back to School Night or with their child. Please note that I will post class assignments on the SS/SCI LMS (Gr2,1, & K) or Mrs.O’s SS/SCI Google page (Gr3 & 4) to keep you aware of what we are working on during class.
Since the Sciences rely so much on our observance of the world around us, students and parents are invited to share with the classes any interesting observations of wildlife, geology, & plant life through photos emailed to me at email@example.com
Thank you for your continued support with our new school year and stay safe.
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Debbie J. Olsyn, MA
