Dear 4th Grade Students and Parents,
Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year as a fourth grader. I am looking forward to helping each and every one of you. It is going to be a fun and enjoyable year full of learning. Thank you for sending classroom supplies and having the students so well-prepared.
Please provide students with a nutritious snack for a mid-morning 'brain-break.' Also, please have students bring a pair of earbuds to keep in class; and lastly, please have the students bring a book to read to class. Soon, we will begin recording what and how much we read in our writing journal for homework, so make sure the book is one that will be enjoyed.
Our Language Arts program of Daily 5, Journeys, and Writer's Pathways fosters literacy independence, where readers and writers work on authentic reading and writing. Students will be taking ownership of their reading and writing both at school and home.
Students can look forward to a STEAM program in Science and Social Studies, where they explore and experiment utilizing science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. A STEAM driven educational program allows students to learn in their individual areas of interest and strength.
For your convenience, homework is posted in class & on the On-Course 'Homework' link. Students will also be keeping weekly homework pad for parents to initial each night . Please check your Take-Home Homework Folder and this webpage frequently for updates.
What a terrific way to be right on top of the latest topics and technology!
Stay happy and know that I will help you with any concerns or questions.
See you in Room #211...Again, welcome to your awesome Fourth Grade year!
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Debbie J. Olsyn
